A Flourishing Life – Sept. 1, 2019

To change the world we need an “I have a dream” speech, not an “I have a complaint” speech, says the contemporary theologian Miroslov Volf, Founder and Director of the Yale Center for Faith and Culture. Volf asserts, “Christian faith in its entirety is about flourishing life—good life, true life, or, in biblical terms, ‘abundant life’ (John 10:10) or ‘the life that really is life’ (1 Tim. 6:19)”.

This fall we will launch an inquiry regarding the nature and manifestation of a flourishing life—what exactly does a flourishing life look like? What criteria do we use to determine our vision of a flourishing life? We will build on our exploration over the last year of Jesus’ teachings on metanoia (the practice of going to the larger mind) and kenosis (the practice self-emptying) examining how these practices were taught in service of a flourishing life.

I have been away for two months and I have missed you. How I am looking forward to our reunion!

With much love, Linda
